Roma Days 2-3

The second and third days in Rome consisted of seeing the rest of the sights and getting to spend some time with some great friends!
First stop: Vatican City
After an initial fear that we wouldn't be able to see the Vatican, we found out that we would still be able to go, but without seeing the Sistine Chapel due to the Pope making someone an archbishop. Although it was a little depressing to not see it, we did enjoy seeing the rest of the city! It was incredible to see all of the Roman columns and learn a little bit about the ceremony of someone becoming an archbishop, And, there were some tv screens that showed what was happening inside so we can say we were able to see the Pope!
Other sights included the Bridge of the Angels, St. Angelo's Castle, the Spanish Steps, and the TREVI FOUNTAIN!!! Although really busy, it was gorgeous and of course, we were able to make our wishes! It was really just like being in a movie, and of course, being in Rome meant singing some songs from The Lizzie McGuire Movie! And somehow, we also started singing High School Musical too...?
After visiting all of the beautiful sights, we went for round two of gelato!! then decided to go back to our hostel. One of the wonderful things about being able to travel around Europe and stay in hostels, is meeting the people that come from all over the world. Our second day in Rome, I was able to talk with someone from Argentina!!! She was also staying in our room at the hostel and we were able to talk back and forth switching between English and Spanish. For me, this was one of the most exciting parts of this part of the trip, because I was able to learn about different parts of her culture and different vocab that she uses in Argentina. (The Spanish nerd inside me was very excited to ask questions about their school year, learn new Spanish words, and compare cultures)
Day 3 was spent enjoying Palm Sunday! We were able to start the day by popping into a cathedral and seeing an Italian Palm Sunday processional. Although we weren't able to understand the majority of what they said, it was great to be able to start holy week in the traditional way.
The rest of the day was spent seeing the Pantheon, walking through some markets, and searching for a very hard to find garden. We ended the day with some great views, and then moved on to the next city: Florence!
